Employment counseling program:
For individuals with Asperger syndrome or another autism spectrum disorder
You may be eligible to participate in a research study of an 8-session course of psychotherapy that focuses on the steps involved in getting a job. More specifically, therapy will focus on helping you develop the social skills required to take part in an initial job interview. The purpose of the study is to learn if brief psychotherapy focused on helping participants practice the skills necessary for a job interview also improves their social skills. Your participation in the study will involve attending 8 sessions of psychotherapy, including 2 brief (10 minute) practice job interviews that will be videotaped, and completing various questionnaires. Videos will remain confidential. You will be required to pay the standard session fee for outpatient psychotherapy charged by the Department of Psychiatry. There is no compensation for this study.
