From the Senior Vice Dean of Medical Education:
Dear Prospective Student,
As the nation's first medical school and hospital, we have a long standing commitment to education, research, patient care and the community. Our commitment to education requires that we not only educate our students in the basic and clinical science of medicine to meet the health care needs of their patients but learn the best way to communicate with patients of all ages and their families. The goal of medicine today is to practice patient-centered care. We are fully committed to preparing our students to be the future leaders of the medical community.
We continue to be at the forefront of major educational innovation by providing a comprehensive integrated and flexible curriculum that can be designed to fit an individual's career goal, be it research, clinical practice, or a dual degree program. Our faculty are truly dedicated to this curriculum and continue to develop new methods of education and evaluation to improve the medical student's experience.
Our goal is to provide you the opportunity to grow both personally and professionally. You are the future of our profession, the ones who will take the lead in charting the course of medical care and discovery for the next several decades. Though you may be faced with issues that we cannot even predict at this point, it is our belief that your medical education at Penn will prepare you to meet any and all challenges.
