DUAL DEGREES
The flexibility of the curriculum allows students to earn dual degrees through any school at the University of Pennsylvania. The degrees offered through the Perelman School of Medicine are:

EDUCATIONAL TRAINING ENHANCEMENTS
LEADERSHIP TRAINING
The Perelman School of Medicine and Wharton collaborated on designing a new model for medical education – small-group teams. Used throughout the curriculum, the teams teach students how to work effectively in a team and the importance to physicians of basic team skills.
SIMULATIONS
The Perelman School of Medicine offers students and faculty two facilities totaling 23,000 square feet to learn and hone basic and clinical skills through:
- Computer mannequins
- Standardized patients
- Six high-fidelity simulation rooms
- Advanced task training
- BLS and ALS certification
76ers SURGICAL AMPHITHEATER
A high-tech amphitheater at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania that enhances teaching in the surgical clerkship. In this setting students link to the hospital surgical suites and experience live interactive surgery.
VIRTUAL CURRICULUM
The School stands in the forefront of computer resources, most available in formats compatible with iPods and MP3’s, offering:
- High-quality, real-time video of all medical school lectures
- Slides from lectures

- Links to Penn’s biomedical library and health system and to the National Library of Medicine
Health Care Delivery in non-traditional programs
GLOBAL AND COMMUNITY HEALTH
Penn offers a non-traditional hands-on approach to global and community health service.
- Field experience in low-income areas, working closely with residents, patients and health-care workers
- International partnerships in Botswana, Guatemala, India, and the Dominican Republic
- Research and clinical experiences from 1 month to a year in every region of the world
- "Bridging the Gaps" program at clinics in disadvantaged areas of Philadelphia
LEAPP
(Longitudinal Experience to Appreciate the Patient's Perspective) This unique program exposes students to the biopsychosocial module of disease by pairing them with chronically ill patients throughout Module 3.
