Program for Diversity and Inclusion (PDI)

Diversity Graft

Our goal is to educate future leaders of health care. Essential to achieving this goal is an educational environment that fosters intellectual, racial, social, and cultural diversity, and community service. The interaction of students with diverse peers, faculty, patients, and the community at large enhances the quality of their educational experience, enables personal growth, and further prepares them to be leaders in providing care to increasingly diverse patient populations. Diversity is a priority and commitment of the Committee on Admissions.

Led by Dr. Horace DeLisser, the Associate Dean of Diversity and Inclusion and a team of Assistant Deans - Dr. Cindy Christian, Dr. Roy Hamilton, and Dr. Benoit Dubé - PDI works to:

(I) promote medical student diversity

(II) provide emotional support, advising and mentoring

(III) facilitate the cohesion and capacity of our cultural affinity groups

(IV) enable opportunities for student involvement in community health and engagement

Through special programs, social events, lectures, and community engagement, PDI promotes inclusiveness and community between our students, faculty, residents, and society at large.
