A Crucial Commitment to Our Future

Investing in Health Research: A Crucial Commitment to Our Future with Arlen Specter

This event has been cancelled for October 6th and will be rescheduled for Spring, 2012.

The Institute on Aging and the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics (LDI) are co-hosting "Investing in Health Research: A Crucial Commitment to Our Future" at the University of Pennsylvania.

This special colloquium will feature Arlen Specter, Adjunct Professor at PennLaw and U.S. Senator 1981-2011.

The afternoon will explore the issues surrounding this nation's financial commitment to health research, especially as it relates to our aging population.

As a tireless proponent of NIH funding during his decades as a U.S. Senator, Senator Specter will discuss the nation's investment in health research given the current budget climate, strategies to gain public and political support, and what institutions and researchers can do to increase the value - and the perception of value - of health research. The discussion will then be opened to attendees.
