Giving to the IOA

We all have a stake in healthy aging. Please consider making a gift to support the Institute on Aging (IOA) and help us advance medical research, education, and care for aging related diseases and concerns.

Your financial support brings us closer to improving the health and quality of life for older adults and our loved ones afflicted with aging related diseases such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, osteoporosis, and vascular disease. Key initiatives supported by your gift include the flagship Pilot Grant Program, Visiting Scholars Series, Fellows Program, and other aging related programs that span all schools and centers at Penn.

Types of Gifts

Tribute Gifts

Honor someone who has impacted your life by making a gift in their name.

Making gifts in honor of or in memory of or in celebration of an anniversary, birthday, or other special occasion is a wonderful way to pay tribute to your loved one while supporting world-class medical research, education and care for aging related diseases.

A letter notifying your loved one or their family will be sent for each tribute gift.

Matching Gifts

Matching gifts offered through your company can double and, in some cases, even triple your gift. Enclose your company's matching fit form with your gift. Your company's personnel office will be able to provide more information about their matching gift program.

Gifts of Securities

Gifts of stocks or appreciated securities are often a wise choice because donors pay no capital gains tax while deducting the full value of the gift.

Planned Gifts

A planned gift to IOA, as a part of your financial and estate planning, provides additional tax and income benefits to you and your family. Planned or deferred gifts include the following:

  • Bequests
  • Charitable gift annuities
  • Retirement asset designations
  • Charitable remained trusts
  • Other tax-savvy options

Please contact us for more information.

Recurring Online Gifts

Make weekly, monthly, quarterly, or yearly gifts that automatically deduct from your credit card.

Naming Opportunities

With a gift of $25,000 or more (payable over multiple years), you can create a fund named in your or that of a loved one. Named funds enable you to direct resources to specific research initiatives or jumpstart novel programs. Please contact us for more information.
