About Giving
| |
The students and faculty of the School of Medicine are the direct recipients of the generosity of alumni and friends who treasure their medical education and experiences at Penn. As each generation of alumni reflects on the excellence and value of their Penn education, they show their gratitude by generously supporting the School through donations to scholarship funds, academic and clinical programs, and cutting-edge technology. |
Financial Aid
Graduating medical students, on average, face a debt burden of $100,000. As the cost of medicine continues to soar, gifts that support scholarships help students focus on their studies and allow them to choose a career path based on passion and not economic gain. Penn’s ability to attract the brightest and most talented medical scholars each year depends on its ability to offer financial assistance. |
Academic and Clinical
Programming
The University of Pennsylvania is home to 12 schools, allowing medical students the unique opportunity to pursue interdisciplinary programs and dual degrees. PENN Medicine is a leader in cutting-edge translational research. Support from alumni and friends is critical to keeping PENN Medicine at the forefront of academic and clinical health-care delivery. |
Technology
Medical students at Penn are connected to their education 24/7. Using the virtual curriculum, students can log on to their computers anytime, anywhere to access lectures, microbiology slides and presentations as often as they like. Donations help make possible advances in technology that strengthen the knowledge and understanding of the future generation of physicians, teachers and research scientists. |
Partners in Giving
The School of Medicine publishes an annual listing of fiscal year donors with highlights of programs supported by these gifts in Partners in Giving. Individual donors are featured to illustrate the connection between gifts and programs supported. The 2006-2007 edition is available for viewing in PDF format. Look for the 2007-2008 interactive edition online in mid-October.
