Annual Giving is the cornerstone of all giving to the School of Medicine. Alumni and friends of the School carry on a long-standing tradition of generosity to sustain the ideals of a Penn medical education. Unrestricted gifts are put to use at the discretion of the dean and board of trustees to areas of critical and immediate need. Donors often choose to support individual class scholarships or established scholarships that honor revered faculty and alumni. Alumni contribute to the Annual Fund each year in gratitude for the excellent academic and clinical education they have received.
In some measure, every facet of the medical education program at Penn is aided by gifts to the Annual Fund. The majority of donors to the Making History Campaign for Penn will contribute through annual gifts.
The School of Medicine Annual Fund is an unrestricted, current-use fund that gives the leadership of the School the flexibility to pursue new programs and initiatives that benefit students and faculty.
The School of Medicine Class Scholarship Funds are endowed funds created to honor individual classes. Students are awarded scholarship aid from these funds each year and are asked to provide updates about their progress to the class leadership.
The Faculty Scholarship Fund is an endowed fund established by the School of Medicine faculty to provide scholarship aid to help offset the cost of a medical education.
The Helen O. Dickens Fund provides a prize award to a graduating student who exemplifies the ideals that Dr. Dickens embodied as she taught and practiced medicine at the University.
The John J. Mikuta Scholarship Fund was created to honor John J. Mikuta, M’48, a dedicated physician, professor, alumnus and volunteer of the School of Medicine.
The Wallace T. Miller Scholarship Fund was established to honor one of the School’s most dedicated faculty members, Wallace T. Miller, GM’58.
The James H. Robinson Fund honors the first African-American to complete an internship and residency at the School of Medicine and provides scholarships to minority students. |
