Description of Research Expertise
Dr. Maguire is Director of the Center for Preventive Ophthalmology and Biostatistics with the Department of Ophthalmology. Current research projects include:1) directing the Coordinating Center for the NIH-funded Comparison of Age-related Macular Degeneration Treatments Trials, a multicenter, randomized clinical trial involving 1200 patients with choroidal neovascularization
2) screening for and treatment of eye conditions affecting preschool children
3) methodology in clinical research for ocular conditions including efficient study design and analysis of correlated data.
Dr. Maguire consults on many projects in vision science, both within and outside of the University.
