Description of Research Expertise

Research Interests
The laboratory focuses on pre-clinical development of vaccines to infectious diseases and cancer emphasizing basic immunological mechanisms that influence vaccine efficacy.

Key words: HIV Vaccine, HPV vaccines, Rabies Virus vaccines.

Description of Research
The laboratory explores DNA vaccines and viral recombinant vaccines based on E1-deleted adenoviral recombinants or adeno-associated viral recombinants to rabies virus, human papillomavirus type 16, and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-1.

Rotation Projects
1. Use of AAV as a vaccine carrier

2. Mechanisms of the persistence of adenoviral vectors in lymphocytes of vaccinated mice

3. Immune responses to oral immunization with an adenoviral vector vaccine to HIV-1

4. Effect of pre-existing T cell immunity on the efficacy of adenoviral vector vaccines to HIV-1

5. Interactions between adenoviral vectors and cells of the innate immune system
