Description of Clinical Expertise

Machine Quality Assurance
• Performed daily, monthly and annual QA for Varian Clinac 2300iX, Truebeam with OBI/CBCT/Calypso and Siemens Oncor machines
Treatment Planning
• Extensive treatment planning experience with Varian Eclipse system
o 3D-CRT, IMRT and RapidArc: CNS, GI/GU, Lung, GYN, Breast, Lymphoma, Sarcoma, Head and Neck
o Special treatment planning including electrons and TBI
Patient Treatment Quality Assurance
• Extensive experience with IMRT and RapidArc patient specific QA using MapCheck2 and ArcCheck
Cyberknife Robotic Radiosurgery System
• Performed daily, monthly and annual QA for Accuray Cyberknife VSI system
Brachytherapy Treatment
• Experience with Varian BrachyVision using Ir-192, performed monthly QA and source exchange calibration of the HDR unit
o Treatment planning and delivery of GYN cases with tandem and ovoid, vaginal cylinders, syed and capri applicators
General Clinical Practice and Projects
• Initial chart checking under the supervision of staff physicists
• On call physicist for after hour emergency treatments and machines issues
• Commissioning of RadCalc (Sun Nuclear) for secondary MU check of 3D-CRT, IMRT and RapidArc
• Commissioning of RapidArc (machine testing, treatment planning and patient specific QA) at the Pennsylvania Hospital
• Monthly QA for Siemens CT (Somatom Definition AS)
• Extensive experience with Varian Aria for paperless charting and R&V
• in vivo dosimetry measurements for Total Body Irradiation treatments using OneDose MOSFET and microStar OSLD

CLINICAL EXPERIENCE – PROTON THERAPY
Acceptance and Commissioning of Cone Beam CT system for proton gantry machine
• Collaboration with IBA on acceptance and commissioning of the first proton therapy specific cone beam CT solution.
• Developing new tools and concepts for image guided proton therapy (IGPT) with CBCT using IBA imageX platform
Acceptance and Commissioning of adaPTinsightTM
• Collaboration with IBA on testing and feedback of this image guidance software platform
• Acceptance and commissioning as the first site implementing this platform
Proton Therapy Machine Quality Assurance
• Daily, monthly, annual machine QA for double scattering, uniform scanning and pencil beam scanning rooms
o Beam quality test (range, modulation and output) tests and absolute dose calibration with IBA Bluephantom and Zebra
o Absolute dose calibration (TRS 398) for pencil beam scanning proton therapy and spot pattern QA with Lynx scintillation detector
Proton Therapy Patient Specific Quality Assurance
• Double scattering patient QA: output and range/modulation measurement using IBA Bluephantom and MatrixX
• Uniform scanning and pencil beam scanning patient QA using IBA Zebra and MatrixX
Daily physics duties
• Provides support for dosimetry on treatment planning
• Initial, weekly chart checks and ends of treatment check
• Provides physics support for therapists during the 1st and 2nd shift

RESEARCH EXPERIENCE / PROJECTS
• Applications for image guided proton therapy with CBCT
 Hounsfield units matching for proton CBCT to simulation CT with deformable image registration
 Water equivalent plot and depth projection radiography for IGPT
 Distal spot position analysis for PBS proton therapy with CBCT
• Intrafraction liver motion analysis with cine MRI
• Weekly MRI based motion analysis and safety margin prorogation for post-prostatectomy patients underwent radiation therapy with endorectal balloons
• Perfusion SPECT guided dose escalation in radiation therapy for lung cancer patients. (PhD project, BC Cancer Agency, Vancouver, BC, 2008 – 2011)
 Image registration and evaluation using ITK
 Monte Carlo simulation using BEAMnrc and DOSXYZnrc
 In house IMRT treatment planning program using Monte Carlo dose calculation
• Biological evaluation of MLC quality assurance: impact on dynamic MLC intensity modulated radiotherapy of prostate and head and neck cancer (in collaboration with Prof. Todd Pawlicki UCSD, 2010)
• Evaluation of the accuracy of Brain CT image segmentation results in iPlanTM (in collaboration with BrainLAB Inc, 2008 - 2009)
• Biologically guided dose painting for prostate tumor hypoxia using Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy(VMAT) (in collaboration with Dr. Karl Otto, M.Sc project, 2006 -2007)
