Description of Clinical Expertise
Dr. Hoff joined the University of Pennsylvania Endocrine Practice as an Assistant Professor of Medicine in 2004.He completed training in Internal Medicine and a three-year fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism. He is a member of the Endocrine Society and the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research. He is certified in clinical densitometry (DXA Scan) by the International Society for Clinical Densitometry and is accredited in thyroid ultrasound and thyroid fine needle aspiration.
Although trained in all areas of endocrinology, his clinical practice focuses on: metabolic bone diseases including osteoporosis, osteomalacia, vitamin D deficiency, and Paget’s disease; Calcium disorders including hyper- and hypo-parathyroidism and hypercalciuria; thyroid disorders including thyroid nodules, thyroid cancer, and hyperthyroidism; and male hypogonadism.
Dr. Hoff currently serves as the director of the medical student endocrine rotation. He frequently has third and fourth year medical students accompany him in the clinic and on inpatient rounds. Also, medical residents and endocrine fellows rotate in the Endocrine Practice and are precepted by Dr. Hoff. Dr Hoff has won the Edward Rose Award for Teaching and Mentorship of Endocrine Fellows
His clinical practices are located at the Penn Endocrinology Practice in the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
