Description of Research Expertise

1) Completed an IRB-approved study in 2016 assessing the accuracy of pediatric teledermatology: "Parental Photograph Quality Rating Scale Study (PQRS Study)" to assess the quality of photographs taken by parents of their child's skin conditions and the accuracy of the diagnosis provided by a blinded pediatric dermatologist as compared to an in-person pediatric dermatologist. Also tested whether an instruction sheet provided to half of the participants improved the quality of the image and diagnoses rendered. Funded by the CHOP Office of Entrepeneurship and Innovation

2) Completed IRB-approved study to assess the usability and outcomes of a teledermatology app piloted at CHOP in 2016. Worked with Alex Fiks,MD and Linda Fleisher, PhD as part of their iApp Chair's Initiative. Developed a survey for the users of the app (patients/parents)to assess satisfaction among other outcomes.

3) Designed and conducted Quality Improvement Project with Dr. Aditi Murthy (Pediatric Dermatology Fellow)in 2017-18 to standardize a provider-to-provider workflow for teledermatology at Karabots Care Network site in West Philadelphia (currently underway).

Description of Clinical Expertise


Began development on pediatric teledermatology app with the CHOP Office of Entrepeneurship and Innovation as part of the SPRINT Program. Piloted the mobile application in the CHOP outpatient setting in Spring 2016.

Currently developing integrated Teledermatology functionality with MyCHOP with CHOP Digital Health and CHOP IS to launch to entire outpatient care network in 2018.
