Description of Research Expertise

Dr. Schutta is involved in several research areas including the effects of bariatric surgery on diabetes remission and the association between coronary calcification and cardiovascular risk in type 2 diabetic patients.

Description of Clinical Expertise

Dr. Schutta specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of diabetes and hypoglycemia disorders. Dr. Schutta predominantly cares for patients with pre-diabetes, type 1 and type 2 diabetes as well as post-transplantation diabetes. He has a particular interest in diabetes prevention and in-patient management of diabetes and hyperglycemia. Dr. Schutta presently serves as Medical Director of the Penn Rodebaugh Diabetes Center.
