Description of Research Expertise
Dr Brose runs a lab in the field of tranlsational studies in cancer genetics and genomics. Dr. Brose’s basic science research interest involves the identification of genetic abnormalities in the tumors of patients undergoing targeted therapies. She currently has projects underway in thyroid cancer, breast cancer, lung cancer, colon cancer and esophageal cancer. Once identified, she is interested in understanding if these changes may identify tumors that may have or lack resistance to certain compounds. She has experience in the use of mice, drosophila, human tissue culture and clincial tissue samples. Her analytic tools include all types of PCR, RT-PCR, as well as the use of array comparative genomic hybridization (aCGH) and transcription profiling, taqman analysis, Q-RT-PCR and DNA sequencing on a regular basis. She also uses high resolution expression and SNP genotyping tetchnologies (Affymetrix and Illumina) to study the genetic basis of cancer. Dr. Brose provides the key correlative science for ongoing phaseI/II/III clinical trials at the University and internationally.Description of Clinical Expertise
Familial cancer syndromes and cancer risk evaluation, PhaseI/II clinical trials, novel drug target discovery, and use of genetic testing in diagnosis, prognostication and treatment of cancer. Treatment of advanced thyroid cancer and cancers of the head and neck, lung and esophagus.Description of Other Expertise
Teaches residents and medical student who rotate through her lab in Hematology/Oncology and Cell geneticsSelected Publications
