ABOUT
Herman J. Saatkamp, Jr., Ph.D. is President of The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey where he is also Professor of Philosophy and Adjunct Professor, Department of Environmental & Community Medicine at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey) and Senior Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania Medical School, Center for Bioethics. His published works address bioethics, molecular genetics, philosophy and education. Considered one of the foremost experts on the writings of philosopher, George Santayana, Dr. Saatkamp is Senior and Founding Editor of The Works of George Santayana and on the Editorial Board of Basic Bioethics and has served as a consultant in technology use in the humanities, physician counseling, genetic testing, and informed consent. He has established research and exchange programs in twelve countries and is a member of the Board of Directors for the Center for Dewey Studies at Fudan University, Sanghai, China. Dr. Saatkamp earned his B.A. from Carson-Newman College, M.Div. from Southern Theological Seminary, and a M.A. and Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University.
