CVI Research Description:
We are currently studying canine models with various congenital heart diseases including conotruncal defects, juvenile cardiomyopathy, TVD (Epstein's anomaly), and mitral valve disease, in order to identify and study the gene or genes involved in the development of the malformation or disease.
Additional models of congenital heart disease can be investigated due to a large canine and feline patient population here at the Matthew J. Ryan Veterinary Hospital of the School of Veterinary Medicine.
