Description of CVI Expertise

CVI Program Unit(s):
Lipid / Atherosclerosis / CAD / ACS / Prevention
Myocyte Biology / Heart Failure

CVI Research Description:
I am interested in psychosocial factors in the development of cardiovascular disease as well as the impact of these factors on the outcome of CVD. These factors include personality, psychiatric disorders, and family involvement in the process of care. I have conducted studies, with Rick Samaha, on the impact of social support on self-care of patients with heart failure, and rates of psychiatric disturbance in patients with heart failure.
