Description of Itmat Expertise

Dr Ghanem’s laboratory investigates the role(s) of RNA-binding and RNA-editing proteins in gastrointestinal development and the impact of these proteins on the severity and progression of pediatric inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Translational research is focused on gene splicing biomarker discovery, and the integration of these biomarkers with clinical metadata, genome sequencing, and serological and stool biomarkers to build clinical decision making tools in IBD.
