The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Responsibilities include working on projects related to understanding the pathogenesis and treatment of spine disease, with a particular focus on the intervertebral disc. The successful applicant will have experience in biomechanical testing, molecular and cell biology, cell culture, imaging and histology. Experience working with in-vivo models, particular mice and rats, would also be highly valued. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree.

Applicants will have demonstrated excellent qualifications in research, as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and dissemination of work at key conferences.
