The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for a Full or Associate Professor position in either the non-tenure clinician-educator track or the tenure track. Track and rank will be commensurate with experience. The successful applicant will be accomplished in the area of Anatomic and/or Clinical Pathology . Expertise in the specific area of Hematology (Hematopathology) is required. Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in research, clinical care, and education. American Board of Pathology eligibility/certification in Anatomic and/or Clinical Pathology is required. Hematology (Hematopathology) certification/eligibility is preferred. Candidates should be eligible for an unrestricted medical license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
The successful individual will direct the hematopathology service at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Clinical and teaching responsibilities include diagnostic reporting of biopsies and aspirates of hematopoietic tissue specimens, as well as quality improvement initiatives. Teaching, including curriculum and teaching materials development, and mentoring of medical students, pathology residents and fellows, and junior faculty will be an integral component of the position. Interest and expertise in pediatric pathology or transfusion medicine are advantageous but not required.
The primary practice location is the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. The environment within the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia/University of Pennsylvania for collaborative clinical research is outstanding. C-E track candidates must demonstrate a strong record/potential in clinical, translational or collaborative research. Tenure track candidates must demonstrate a strong record/potential to establish an independent, extramurally funded, research program.
