The Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Responsibilities include experience in the broad field of protein structure and function, and in the use of mass spectrometry is essential. Some background in nuclear magnetic resonance and in protein hydrogen exchange studies is desirable, as is also skill in computer programming. Responsibilities will include independently designing and performing protein hydrogen exchange experiments by mass spectrometry and analyzing the data by advanced computer methods. The successful candidate is also expected to advise graduate students who will be involved in related work. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in research.

The effective date of the appointment will be 08/01/2011.
