The Department of Neurology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). The successful applicant will have experience in the field of neurology with a focus on neuromscular diseases. Responsibilities include maintaining colonies of genetically unique mice, preparing acute brain slices, patching glial cells in such slices, and analyze the results with light and electron microscopy. Applicants must have an M.D. and/or Ph.D degree and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in research.

In addition, the candidate will write up the results for publication and present the work at national and international meetings.
