The Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Full, Associate, and/or Assistant Professor position in the tenure track. Rank will be commensurate with experience. The successful applicant will have experience in the field of biochemistry and biophysics with a focus on structural biology approaches that employ electron microscopy. Responsibilities include establishing a vigorous and independently funded research program while supervising and mentoring students with diverse backgrounds, as well as contributing to the graduate and medical school educational missions. We seek individuals with a strong record of independent accomplishment using electron microscopy, who will interact productively both with colleagues within the Department and across the Penn Medicine and University of Pennsylvania campus. Applicants must have an M.D. or Ph.D or equivalent degree and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in research and education.
Research in the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics strives to understand molecular mechanisms of key biological and pathological processes and their physical and chemical underpinnings – drawing on a wide range of disciplines and interacting with laboratories across Penn Medicine. The Department is home to the Eldridge Reeves Johnson Foundation and comprises 28 primary faculty, including members of the National Academy, Royal Society, and Howard Hughes Medical Institute.
