The Department of Emergency Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant or Associate Professor position in the non-tenure academic-clinician track. Rank will be commensurate with experience. The successful applicant will have experience in the field of Emergency Medicine with a focus on Observation Medicine . Responsibilities include planning, protocol and trigger order-set development, direct electronic medical record enhancement, quality and utilization oversight. The ability to work collaboratively with organization clinical leaders and hospital administration is required. Applicants must have an M.D or M.D./Ph.D. degree and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in clinical care and education.
This Academic Clinician (AC) track position will report to the Vice Chair for Clinical Operations of Emergency Medicine and be responsible for the clinical oversight and management of observation services and a 17 bed observation unit. The ideal candidate is BC/BE, EM/IM or EM experienced in Observation Medicine. S/he will be familiar with the Center for Medicare Services, regulatory and quality standards and have 2-5 years experience with emergency observation patient management.
Penn Emergency Medicine provides care to over 130,000 patient visits per year with over 2,400 observation patient placements during FY 2011.
