The Department of Radiation Oncology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure clinician-educator track. Applicants must have an M.D. or Ph.D or equivalent degree and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in clinical care, education, and research. Board Certified in Radiation Therapy.
The successful applicant will have experience in the field of Radiation Oncology. This position specializes in the area of palliative care. A fellowship in palliative care is preferred.
The Radiation Oncology clinic, located in the newly constructed Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine, includes four state-of-the-art Varian linacs, a Varian HDR unit installed alongside a Varian Acuity Simulator with CBCT capability, two Siemens Sensation wide bore 4-D CT simulators, a Siemens wide bore Espree MRI unit and a Philips wide bore PET/wide bore CT unit. We provide a full range of radiation oncology services (IMRT, brachytherapy, TBI, SRS, and SBRT) and have an active development program in all aspects of radiotherapy physics. We are also active in photodynamic therapy research. The Roberts Proton Therapy Center, which opened in January 2010, houses the largest proton therapy facility in the USA, comprising four gantry treatment rooms and one fixed beam room. This facility has several unique features including MLCs for scattered and uniform scanned beams, CBCT in the gantry rooms, and fast beam switching. The University of Pennsylvania Radiation Oncology Department also supports satellite facilities.
