Associate Chief of Staff for Research and Development at the PVAMC

The Philadelphia VA Medical Center (PVAMC) and the Department of Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for a Full or Associate Professor position in the tenure track. Rank will be commensurate with experience. Applicants must have an M.D or M.D./Ph.D. degree.
The successful candidate will hold the title of Associate Chief of Staff for Research and Development (ACOS/R&D) reporting directly to the PVAMC’s Chief of Staff. The PVAMC is a large tertiary care VAMC co-located with its academic affiliate, the University of Pennsylvania. The principal duty of the ACOS/R&D is to function as the PVAMC’s Chief of Research Service, to have responsibility for the leadership of its research program, and to serve as the principle link to coordinate academic research planning with the Perelman School of Medicine. The ideal candidate will have strong familiarity with the research mission of the Veteran’s Administration, a substantial record of scholarship and grant funding befitting appointment as either Associate or full Professor at the PVAMC and Perelman School with tenure. The PVAMC has strong academic and research programs and a newly renovated research building. The Research Service currently has 120 principal investigators with over 70 of them funded encompassing $15 million in annual funding. In addition, the ACOS/R&D oversees several national research centers to include a Health Services Research & Development COE. Teaching activity will be with residents and fellows within the clinical specialty of the ACOS-Research.
