The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Responsibilities include the independent design and performance of high-level research in the molecular and cell biology of aging. The position requires an extensive knowledge of yeast and mammalian cell biology and molecular genetics, epigenetics, and mitochondrial biology. The successful applicant must demonstrate a proven record of success and the ability to work independently in designing and performing experiments, writing of manuscripts and grant proposals, and supervision of technical staff and students. Extensive interactions with other post-doctoral fellows, students, and technical staff are expected. Applicants must have an M.D./Ph.D or equivalent degree.
