The Department of Radiology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Full Professor position in the tenure track. The successful applicant will be accomplished in the area of Radiochemistry and the Development of Probes. Expertise in the specific area of Nuclear Medicine & Molecular Imaging is required. Responsibilities include directing the cyclotron facilities in the University of Pennsylvania PET Center, development of a radiotracer program in the development and testing of probes for cancer, neurology and psychiatry, cardiology, and other diseases. Expertise in production of radiopharmaceuticals for both research and clinical use, including knowledge of regulatory issues, is essential. Experience in directing a PET radiopharmaceutical research and production program is essential. Applicants must have the ability to obtain independent research funding. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in research and education.

The University of Pennsylvania PET center is a multi-disciplinary center with expertise in clinical and translational PET imaging, PET physics, and radiochemistry, and investigators associated with the PET center are leaders in their areas. The translational focus of the division has been greatly enhanced by the recent acquisition of a new cyclotron and the completion of a CGMP radiopharmaceutical production facility, greatly expanding its ability to produce novel radioisotopes for diagnosis and therapy of neurologic and oncologic diseases.

Radiochemistry development is a major focus of the Division of Nuclear Medicine and Clinical Molecular Imaging at Penn and of the PET Center. The seamless development of radiotracers from bench to beside is facilitated in the division by the PET Executive Committee, which prioritizes and identifies resources for novel tracers, and by the Investigational New Drug Office (IND), which files and maintains applications for clinical trials with the FDA.
