The Department of Radiology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). The successful applicant will have experience in the field of Biomedical Engineering or Mathematics. Responsibilities include the development of novel molecular imaging techniques for MRI of major brain neurotransmitters and its translational applications for diagnosis and treatment assessment in animal models and human models. The candidate will also be responsible for developing CEST imaging techniques for early stage diagnosis of human diseases, particularly MS, AD, osteoarthritis and liver fibrosis. Development of CEST MRI for mapping creatine changes during brain tumor and during heart infarction in animal models. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in research.

Candidates must possess a significant background in MRI/MRS techniques. Knowledge of image processing and pulse sequence programming. One to three years experience in an academic research laboratory preferred.
