RESEARCH ASSISTANT PROFESSOR - Structural Biology
Posting Department: Pathology and Laboratory Medicine
Expire Date: 02/22/2015
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure research track. Responsibilities include assisting in the leadership of a Structural Biology Program. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in research.

The position requires extensive knowledge of small molecule drug design and development, protein expression and purification, as well as macro-molecular crystallography. The candidate should have familiarity with the use and maintenance of equipment such as X-ray diffraction, Isothermal Titration Calorimeter, Biacore, HPLC, and FPLC and have strong experience in using molecular modeling software to assist Structure-Activity-Relationship (SAR) studies.

The successful applicant must demonstrate a proven record of success (primarily through a strong publication record) and the ability to work independently in designing and performing experiments, writing of manuscripts and grant proposals, and supervision of technical staff and students. Independent research funding is not required to obtain this position, but obtaining some independent funding once in the position is expected. Extensive interactions with other investigators, post-doctoral researchers, students, and technical staff are expected.

We seek candidates who embrace and reflect diversity in the broadest sense.

The University of Pennsylvania is an equal opportunity, affirmative action employer.
