The Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Full Professor position in the tenure track. Applicants must have an M.D. and/or Ph.D degree.

The mission of the Department of Genetics is to advance understanding of Genetics through fundamental research, to train the next generation of geneticists, and to aid in the translation of genetic knowledge to the clinic. The Department’s full-time and associated faculties are engaged in a wide range of research activities from the genetics of model organisms to human genetics.

The Genetics Department of the Perelman School of Medicine impacts multiple schools of the University of Pennsylvania, including the School of Arts and Sciences, the School of Veterinary Medicine, and the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, as well as multiple Institutes and Centers, including the Center for Personalized Diagnostics, the Penn Genome Frontiers Institute, and the newly formed Institute for Bioinformatics. In addition, as part of Penn Medicine's bold new strategic plan, the Department of Genetics will be expanding considerably in partnership with The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

The successful candidate will possess demonstrated leadership skills, dedication to the research mission including a distinguished research record and a strong commitment to education and mentorship of students, fellows and faculty. The candidate should express a clear vision of the future of genetics, including the role of genomics and bioinformatics, the interplay between model organisms and human genetics, and the potential translational role of a Genetics Department that is part of a great academic medical center and health system.
