The Department of Pharmacology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). The successful applicant will have experience in the field of Molecular neurobiology and cardiology with extensive experience with excitable cells including neurons and cardiomyocytes with a focus on in vivo transfection and translation of RNA as well as in vivo transcriptomics expertise is required. Responsibilities include Analyze the transcriptome of mouse, rat, human and zebrafish neurons, fibroblasts and cardiomyocytes. Make RNAseq libraries from single cells, analyze RNAseq data and use these data to design functional genomics approaches to understanding cell function. Applicants must have an M.D./Ph.D degree and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in research.
