Research Associate in Translational Psychiatry and Neuroscience

The Department of Psychiatry at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). The successful applicant will have experience in the field of Behavioral and Electrophysiological Models of Schizophrenia for use in Tranlational Psychiatry and Neuroscience with a focus on combining complex behavior and EEG recording related to cognition. Responsibilities include coordinating research projects and collaborations in the areas of translational neuroscience, within the context of schizophrenia, depression and autism, as well as participating in grant and manuscript submission. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in neuroscience or psychology along with a minimum of five years postdoctoral and/or industry experience. A strong background in the use of invivo electrophysiological techniques for translational psychiatry is desired, along with a demonstrated ability to design and validate novel measures of cognition in mice using operant conditioning methodologies. Candidates should have a successful publication record, as indicated by multiple first author publications in scientific journals, as well as a demonstrated ability to obtain external funding. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in research.
