The Department of Psychiatry at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure clinician-educator track. The successful applicant will have experience in the field of special education, child psychology, or children's mental health services with a focus on implementing evidence-based interventions for children with autism or other psychiatric or developmental disabilities in schools. Responsibilities include participation in the designated Center for Mental Health Policy and Services Research Center's training programs, teaching, and patient care activities in the faculty member's clinical specialty (if relevant). Additional responsibilities include writing research grants, writing empirical papers and reviews, conducting statistical analyses and project management. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in research, clinical care, and education.
The Center's goal is to improve the care of persons with mental illness in community settings through research, evaluation, and translating findings into practice. The Center collaborates extensively with the behavioral health system in Philadelphia and with a number of other state and local systems. Research areas of particular interest to the Center are the development of effective interventions for children in community settings, research on the diffusion of effective interventions into practice, research on the effects of organizational structure and financial strategies to improve client outcomes, research on the social context of persons with serious mental illness, community integration, and consumer operated services. We are specifically seeking faculty with research interests in children's mental health services research to complement existing research programs. Both clinicians and preclinical investigators are invited to apply. Applicants in related research areas will also be considered and must have a strong interest in developing an academic career with a focus on mental health services research and a track record demonstrating exceptional promise as a clinical educator.
