The Philadelphia VA Medical Center (PVAMC) and the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure academic-clinician track. The successful applicant will have experience in the field of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation with a focus on Traumatic Brain Injury. Responsibilities include working closely with other surgical and non-surgical teams to provide the highest level of Traumatic Brain Injury and Neurorehabilitation services to a wide range of patients in both inpatient and outpatient care settings. Applicants must have an M.D. or equivalent degree and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in education and clinical care.
We are seeking candidates interested in expanding our TBI and Neurorehabilitation services in partnership with surgical subspecialists and the allied rehabilitative teams across the Penn Medicine Health System (including the Pennsylvania Institute for Rehabilitation Medicine) and the Philadelphia VA Medical Center. Such candidates must have excellent clinical training, well-refined interpersonal skills, enthusiasm, and a commitment to furthering our clinical services and advancing our academic missions. Fellowship training with experience in tone and spasticity management is highly desirable. Knowledge and skill in managing patients with post concussion syndromes is important as you will be working with veterans with such brain injuries as well as athletes sustaining concussions. Candidate must be Board Certified/Board Eligible.
Selected candidates must have well developed technical skills and be able to lead an effective multidisciplinary rehabilitation team. In addition, as an academic faculty member, the selected candidate will be able to teach medical students and residents. Experienced physiatrists with a track record of building programs are strongly encouraged to apply.
