Research Associate in Dermatology

The Department of Dermatology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Responsibilities include planning and executing experiments to study the molecular mechanisms regulating UV-induced responses in skin with a focus on photoaging and the development of cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma. Projects studying the biology of UV-induced pigmentation in human organotypic skin models will also be performed. Prior experience in tyrosine kinase signaling research, yeast two-hybrid screening and broad expertise in cell biology are required. Experience working with transgenic and gene targeted mice is helpful. The candidate will be expected to present the results of experiments at laboratory meetings, departmental seminars, and national and international meetings; aiding in the preparation of scientific papers; supervising junior lab members including technicians and students. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in research and education.
