The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Associate or Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure academic-clinician track. Rank will be commensurate with experience. The successful applicant will have experience in the field of Genetic Diagnosis with a focus on Clinical Cytogenetics and Molecular Diagnosis. Responsibilities include laboratory administration, data and quality review, clinical consultation, and assay development. This individual will be responsible for clinical case sign-out for cancer cytogenetics and personalized diagnostics testing. Applicants must have an M.D. or Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in clinical care and education. Certification with the American Board of Medical Genetics in the sub-specialties of Clinical Cytogenetics and Clinical Molecular Diagnosis is required. Eligibility to become the license holder for the Clinical Cytogenetics Laboratories and the Center for Personalized Diagnostics is also required. Physicians must be eligible/licensed in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
A minimum of 5 years experience and emphasis on next generation sequencing is preferred. Participation in a broad spectrum of departmental teaching activities including medical students, graduate students, residents, pathology house-staff, and fellows, and at interdepartmental conferences is an integral component of this position. Academic Clinicians must demonstrate excellence in teaching and clinical abilities.
