The Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology at the University of Pennsylvania's School of Medicine seeks candidates for several Assistant, Full, and/or Associate Professor positions in either the tenure track or the non-tenure clinician-educator track. Track and rank will be commensurate with experience. The successful applicant will have experience in the field of Epidemiology with a focus on Public Health Research in Global Health. Responsibilities include The University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine seeks highly qualified candidates for positions in the tenure or non-tenure clinician-educator track at the Assistant, Associate or full Professor level with an established track-record as an NIH-funded scientific investigator in internationally-based research to expand and contribute to the research mission of Penn’s Global Health Program. Academic rank and track will be commensurate with credentials and experience. Responsibilities include further developing and expanding Penn’s research program in global health. In addition to development of an independent research program in this setting, responsibilities also include participation in Penn’s Center for Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics training programs, and teaching and patient care activities in the faculty member’s clinical specialty (if relevant). Applicants must have an M.D. and/or Ph.D. degree, leadership in NIH-funded clinical/epidemiological/public health research, and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in and commitment to education and research. Field experience performing research in developing countries is strongly preferred. Applicants must have an M.D. or Ph.D degree and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in Research, Education, and Clinical Care.

We are seeking candidates with clinical and epidemiological/public health research interests in international health. Research interests can include any clinical research related to health in other nations. Both clinicians and non-clinicians, MDs and PhDs, are invited to apply. Candidates should have prior experience in international research. The faculty appointment will be based in the department at the School of Medicine that best suits the candidate’s training and research area background.

Penn’s Global Health Program focuses on partnerships with academic institutions in developing countries. Each of these partnerships seeks to address health problems of importance in the developing country through research, training, and service.

The effective date of appointment will be 01/01/2009.
