The Department of Genetics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant or Associate Professor position in the non-tenure research track. Rank will be commensurate with experience. The successful applicant will have experience in the field of cell and molecular biology as applied to research in genetics and genomics. Responsibilities include conducting experiments related to biology and genomics of pathways involved in metabolism and cardiovascular disease, assisting the Chair in running his research laboratory, helping to supervise postdoctoral fellows, students, and research staff, and participation in writing grants and manuscripts. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree. Applicants must have demonstrated substantial experience in biomedical bench research, publication of research results, and communication skills.
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of research experience after obtaining the PhD degree. Independent research funding is not required to obtain this position, but obtaining funding, either independently or collaboratively, once in the position is expected.
