The Department of Pharmacology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Associate or Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure research track. Rank will be commensurate with experience. The successful applicant will have experience in the field of the administration of large biorepositories of human DNA, blood, and tissue samples and experience in biomedical research in genetics/genomics. Experience in interfacing with electronic medical records systems and other sources of phenotype data is preferred. Responsibilities include supervising the staff of the Biobank, interacting with faculty, promoting the use of the Biobank, and working with institutional leadership regarding long-term strategy. An independent or collaborative research program that will make use of the extensive biorepository and linked clinical/phenotypic data is a required component of the position. A faculty appointment may be in the non-tenure research track or the non-tenure clinician educator track. Applicants must have an Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree.
Applicants must have substantial administrative experience in biorepository management, a track record of accomplishment in biomedical research, and demonstrable communication skills.
The faculty appointment will be in an appropriate department in the Perelman School of Medicine.
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience after obtaining the PhD or MD degree. Independent research funding is not required to obtain this position, but obtaining funding, either independently or collaboratively, once in the position is encouraged.
