Chief of Anesthesiology at Philadelphia VA Medical Center
Posting Department: Anesthesiology and Critical Care
Expire Date: 10/25/2013
The Philadelphia VA Medical Center (PVAMC) and the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for a Full, Assistant, and/or Associate Professor position in either the non-tenure clinician-educator track or the non-tenure academic-clinician track. Track and rank will be commensurate with experience. The successful applicant will have experience in the field of Anesthesiology and Critical Care. Responsibilities include Chief of Anesthesiology at the Philadelphia VA Medical Center (PVAMC). The Chief will have overall responsibility for the PVAMC Anesthesia Service including recruitment in concert with the Chair of Anesthesiology and Critical Care at the University of Pennsylvania, establishing policy and participating in medical center committees. The Chief may have oversight for surgical critical care services and therefore additional qualifications in critical care will be advantageous. Teaching of residents and/or fellows from the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania is also required. Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in research, clinical care, and education. While evidence of scholarship is required in the clinician-educator track, research is not required in the academic clinician track. ABA certification and Pennsylvania licensure required.
