The Philadelphia VA Medical Center (PVAMC) and the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for an Associate or Full Professor position in either the non-tenure academic-clinician track or the non-tenure clinician-educator track. Track and rank will be commensurate with experience. The successful applicant will be accomplished in the area of Anesthesiology and Critical Care. Responsibilities include Chief of Anesthesiology at the Philadelphia VA Medical Center (PVAMC). The Chief will have overall responsibility for the PVAMC Anesthesia Service including recruitment in concert with the Chair of Anesthesiology and Critical Care at the University of Pennsylvania, establishing policy and participating in medical center committees. The Chief will be working with the VA Administration and University Department to implement a cardiac surgery service and therefore cardiac anesthesia and critical care experience is preferred but not essential. Teaching of residents and/or fellows from the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania is required. Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in research, education, and clinical care. While evidence of scholarship is required in the clinician-educator track, research is not required in the academic clinician track. ABA certification and Pennsylvania licensure required.
