The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for several Research Associate positions in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Responsibilities include scientific research in the field of orthopaedic regenerative medicine and tissue engineering, and the applicant is expected to submit and collaborate on grant proposals and participate in the department's educational programs as assigned. Applicants must have experience in large animal pre-clinical orthopaedic models, and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in education and research. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree. In biomedical engineering (or equivalent), and postdoctoral experience in Biomaterials, Biomechanics, Tissue Engineering, and Translational Animal Models.

We are seeking candidates with research interests and expertise in soft tissue engineering and regeneration, and specifically, application and translation of engineered tissue constructs for orthopaedic soft tissues to pre-clinical models. Applicants in other research areas will also be considered. Start dates are available as early as July 2013.
