Physician, Chief of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Service, Philadelphia Veterans Affairs (PVAMC) Medical Center
The Philadelphia VA Medical Center (PVAMC) and the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for a Full or Associate Professor position in either the non-tenure clinician-educator track or the non-tenure academic-clinician track. Track and rank will be commensurate with experience. Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree. While evidence of scholarship is required in the clinician-educator track, research is not required in the academic clinician track. American Board of Pathology certification in Anatomic and/or Clinical Pathology, an unrestricted license, at least 10 years experience as attending pathologist, and at least 5 years of administrative experience as Pathology Service or Clinical Laboratory director required. Preference will be given to individuals with prior subspecialty work experience or fellowship training.
This position will be primarily based at the PVAMC as Chief of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Service. The candidate must be eligible for a one-eighth appointment at the University of Pennsylvania at the level of Associate Professor or higher and have demonstrated academic productivity with a focus in research integrating biochemical, molecular and/or genetic aspects of disease with clinical practice, as evidenced by targeted publications, presentations, and research funding or awards. The functions of this position are diverse and encompass patient care, administration, consultation, education and research. The individual will be expected to train and mentor residents, fellows, graduate and medical students. The Philadelphia VA Medical Center offers a teaching-oriented, academic environment with a well-integrated health care system.
