The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure academic-clinician track. The successful applicant will have experience in the field of Cytogenetics and/or Clinical Molecular Genetics with a focus on Clinical Genomic Medicine. Applicants must have an M.D and/or Ph.D or equivalent degree and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in clinical care and education. Board certification in Clinical Cytogenetics and/or Clinical Molecular Genetics with more than one year experience directing a laboratory performing next generation sequencing required. Physicians must be eligible/licensed in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in Clinical Genomic Medicine with demonstrated responsibilities in Clinical Molecular Diagnostics specifically with next generation sequencing. In addition, an emphasis on bioinformatics analysis of data, clinical collaboration and test development in the field of next generation sequencing is required. Responsibilities will include laboratory administration, data and quality review, clinical consultation, and assay development. This candidate must be fluent in bioinformatics, including the development and management of integrated databases and analysis pipelines. This individual will be responsible for clinical case sign-out for personalized diagnostics testing and cancer cytogenetics.

Participation in a broad spectrum of departmental teaching activities including medical students, graduate students, residents, pathology house-staff, and fellows, and at interdepartmental conferences is an integral component of this position. Academic Clinicians must demonstrate excellence in teaching and clinical abilities.
