The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for an Associate or Full Professor position in the tenure track. Rank will be commensurate with experience. Responsibilities include Directing the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) in compliance with all U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS) policies; overseeing the coordination and implementation of effective, efficient systems for protocol and program review by the IACUC. Applicants must have a DVM, VMD, or Ph.D degree and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in research and education. DVM or VMD are preferred, but candidates with a Ph.D. degree and appropriate IACUC experience will be considered.
The successful applicant will direct an NIH-funded research program that utilizes laboratory animals and must be eligible for a Faculty appointment. A clear record of scientific productivity and extramural funding is required. The environment for research across all of the Departments, Schools, and Centers on the CHOP/University of Pennsylvania campus is outstanding. Teaching and mentoring of graduate and medical students is an integral component of this position.
