The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the Department of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for an Associate or Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure research track. Rank will be commensurate with experience. Applicants must have an Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in research.

Possible methodological research projects include, but are not limited to, developing statistical/computational methods for integrated analysis of genomic data, analysis of next-generation sequencing and RNA-seq data, pathway- and genetic network-based analysis, rare variant analysis of complex disorders, discovery of genetic interactions in genome-wide studies, and developing innovative genome analysis methods and software. Duties include methodological and collaborative research in pediatric medicine and advising bioinformatics support services.

In addition, this position will serve as Bioinformatics Director within the Center for Biomedical Informatics at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Research Institute. In this capacity, successful candidates will lead strategic informatics initiatives involving bioinformatics research; engage with and recruit members of CHOP’s healthcare provider communities as stakeholders for the utilization of molecular knowledge in the pediatric clinical environment; develop effective workflows for generating, analyzing, and delivering actionable genomics and functional genomics information to researchers and clinicians; and seek out mechanisms for collaboration by leading funded research initiatives to achieve these goals.

The Department has strong ties with world-class biostatistics, bioinformatics, and genomics groups at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania. This environment provides rich collaborative opportunities in genetic and genomic study design, statistical genetic analysis, genetic epidemiology, genomics, personalized medicine, epigenetics, and biomedical informatics. Candidates will have experience in health, life sciences or a related appropriate field.
