The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the Division of Oncology in the Department of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for a Full Professor position in either the non-tenure clinician-educator track or the tenure track. Track will be commensurate with experience. Applicants must have an M.D or M.D./Ph.D. degree and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in research, education, and clinical care. Board certification in Hematology/Oncology is required.

The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is seeking an outstanding academic oncologist to serve as the Division Chief of Oncology and Director of the Center for Childhood Cancer Research. The Division of Oncology at CHOP is nationally recognized for its excellence in clinical care, research and education. It is home to one of the world's leading research and treatment centers for neuroblastoma; one of the largest pediatric blood and marrow transplantation programs in the United States; one of the largest brain tumor centers in the country; the nation's first pediatric survivorship program; one of the most comprehensive palliative care programs in the United States; and the only proton radiation facility with a dedicated infrastructure for children. The Center for Childhood Cancer Research, housed within the CHOP Research Institute, integrates basic, translational and clinical research by bringing together investigators in pediatric cancer research, patient care and genomics. Research grants total approximately $19 million annually, including nearly $8 million in NIH funding.

Reporting to the Chair of Pediatrics and Physician-in-Chief at CHOP and working in close collaboration with the Division Chief of Oncology at the Perelman School of Medicine and the Director of the Abramson Cancer Center, the Chief of Oncology will provide strategic and operational leadership to this Division. The Chief will be responsible for leading the clinical practice of oncology medicine and associated services, the academic programs in medical student, residency and fellowship training and the research activities of the Division. As such, he/she will also serve as the Director of the Center for Childhood Cancer Research and will report to the Chief Scientific Officer of the CHOP Research Institute.

This important position requires a strong leader with a proven track record of collaborative clinical leadership, research administration, strategic thinking, program development, faculty recruitment and mentoring, and experience in and passion for undergraduate and graduate medical education. He/she must be seen as an outstanding team builder with the ability to advance an already world-class program. The ideal candidate will have a track record of distinguished scholarship, will have grown an academic research program and will have had successful administrative and leadership experience at an academic institution such as a Vice Chair, Division Chief /Section Head or Program Director.
