Assistant Professor - Research - Mental Health Policy and Services Research

The Department of Psychiatry at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure research track. The successful applicant will have experience in the field of mental health services with a focus on mental health systems, the associated delivery of services, and mental health policy. Responsibilities include collaborative and independent research in mental health services and related policy, preparation of research protocols and grants, and submission of scholarly publications. The successful applicant must have a record of publication and be expected to maintain a clinical presence in their area of research. The applicant must have the potential to develop a research program capable of attracting external funding. Applicants in related research areas will also be considered. Additional responsibilities include conducting statistical analyses and project management. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in research.

The Mental Health Policy and Services Research Center's goal is to improve the care of persons with mental illness in community settings through research, evaluation, and translating findings into practice. The Center collaborates extensively with the behavioral health system in Philadelphia and with a number of other state and local systems. Research areas of particular interest to the Center are the development of effective interventions for children in community settings, research on diffusion of effective interventions into practice, research on the effects of organizational structure and financial strategies to improve client outcomes, research on the social context of persons with serious mental illness, community integration, and consumer operated services. We are specifically seeking faculty with research interests in mental health services research within the child and aging populations to complement existing research programs.
